Local Incinerator - Planning App'n 2012/0423 & 0522
There is a major Planning Application for a Gasification Plant (Waste Incinerator) to be built on Green Belt land on the outskirts of Cobham. The site is located in Redhill Road alongside Silvermere and the A3. This plant could have a major impact over a wide area.
The CCHT has written to Surrey County Council and Elmbridge Borough Council to object and we would urge local residents to also consider expressing their objection.
Our main objections are:-
- The site was not suggested or considered for inclusion when the Surrey Waste Management Plan was being considered and there are other more appropriate sites which should be looked at first.
- The plant is not suitable for siting in this Green Belt area where it would be totally out of sympathy with the character of the area.
- It would create unacceptable traffic on the already very busy Byfleet Road.
Surrey County Council are the applicants and have submitted two planning application 2012/0423 and 2012/0522. The Surrey County Council reference is EL12/0423 and EL12/522.
Further details of the applications can be found by searching the Elmbridge Planning Dept website and quoting the planning references above: Search Planning Applications. More details about registering your objection with both Elmbridge and Surrey County Council can be found on our Planning pages click here.
An opposition group have set up a separate website with in depth information as to why they believe all local residents should oppose these proposals. The website is www.noelmbridgewasteincinerator.co.uk
