Dr David Cooke, our Secretary and Archivist, has passed away

New Collar for Roger HumanWith sadness we annouce Dr David Cooke, our Secretary and Archivist, has passed away.

David had been fighting Cancer for the last few years and passed away peacefully on Monday 4th December 2023.

But, while very ill, he continued heroically with his research work completing the project to install new collars on the 46 cherry trees on the Avenue of Remembrance on teh Tilt in time for the Armistice Day commemoration 11th November when, in his presence, we dedicated the new name collars with a short service. Some 200 people were present of whom about a quarter were relatives of those who had fallen in the service of their country. David, although wheelchair bound, was able to attend both the dedication and the reception afterwards.

May he rest in peace.
