Additional Information:Son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Wilkinson; husband of Denise Ludlow Wilkinson, of Farnborough, Kent.
Volunteered for R.A.F. in April 1940, but drafted to Royal Engineers. Gained pilot's licence in March 1941 and wings in November. Posted to No. 1 Squadron, which flew Typhoons, on 3rd May 1943. Killed flying Spitfire V EP636 OQ-B during exercise from the Fighter Leader School at R.A.F. Milfield, Northumberland. The aircraft dived into the sea 4 miles offshore near Atwick, Yorkshire.
