Additional Information:Son of Howard and Helen Walford, of Cobham, Surrey.
Son of the artist Howard Neville Walford, foreign exchange dealer before the war. Gazetted Acting P/O with effect from 1st July, 1940. Posted to 29 Squadron, based at R.A.F. West Malling, Kent from an Operational Training Unit in 1942. Killed soon afterwards flying Beaufighter I R2257 during air-firing practice at Leysdown ranges, Kent. The aircraft failed to pull up from a dive and crashed into the sea.
