Additional Information:Son of William Graham Thompson and Oliveria Cromwell Thompson, of Cobham, Surrey. Awarded the Henry Leigh Carslake Prize, 1932; award for Inventions, 1934.
Entered the Royal Navy from Dartmouth, promoted acting Sub-Lieutenant on 15th May 1923 and completed R.A.F. course to qualify as observer in 1929. As Staff Officer (Operations) on H.M.S. Illustrious, directed air attack at Taranto on the night of 11-12 November, 1940. Killed returning to England on board H.M.S. Harvester, convoy escort torpedoed by submarine U-432 in mid-Atlantic.
