Born in Cobham. Joined the R.A.F early in the war and served in North Africa with the Desert Air Force, which provided close air support to the Eighth Army. On his way home to Cobham after the war, accepted a lift in a lorry, and subsequently died from injuries incurred when the vehicle sustained a broken axle.
