| Additional Information: | Son of Charlie Alec and Edith Amy Mead, of Cobham, Surrey. Born in Cobham. Served with East Surrey Regiment before transferring to 1st Queen's. In December, 1942 the battalion joined 33rd Brigade, 7th Indian Division, later moving to the Arakan in Burma. On 3rd April, 1944 Japanese forces attacked Kohima in north-east India. 33rd Brigade was airlifted there. Killed on the day of the second and successful attack by the 1st Queen's on Jail Hill, Kohima. |
