Additional Information:Son of William J. and May G. Knott; husband of Bertha A. Knott, of Effingham Junction, Surrey.
Born in Cobham and attended Cobham Central School. Served as tank commander with 2nd Armoured Bde., which arrived in Egypt in November 1941. Killed during the Second Battle of El Alamein. On 2nd November 1942, during Operation Supercharge, the brigade opposed an enemy counter-attack near Tel El Eisa. Killed later by a shell, after leaving his tank to consult another crew. His tank was credited with destroying two enemy tanks that day.
