| Additional Information: | Son of John Adam Gaskell Kennard and Lenore Mary Kennard, of Chelsea, London. Landed in Normandy with 3rd Irish Guards on 23rd June, 1944. The battalion took part in Operations Goodwood and Bluecoat in Normandy, and in the liberation of Brussels on 3rd September. On 10th September, in a surprise attack, they captured Joe's Bridge at Neerpelt, on the Dutch border, undamaged. Killed defending the bridge. |
