Additional Information:Son of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Jackson; husband of Martha S. Jackson, of South Norwood, Surrey.
Served with 23rd (Northumbrian) Division, which arrived in France in April, 1940 to provide labour for the construction of airfields and defences. Killed on board S.S. Abukir, a 689-ton steamer torpedoed and sunk by E-Boat S-34, survivors machine-gunned in the water with the aid of a searchlight. Around 25 survivors were later rescued by Royal Navy destroyers.
